TOMÀ

TOMÀ (b. 1990) is a designer whose work bridges material research and conceptual inquiry. TOMÀ’s work begins with existing materials or encounters that prompt a reconsideration of reality. By shifting context, he gives objects new functions, balancing form and use while treating aesthetics as a gesture toward otherness.

TOMÀ

The DEFA TABLES exemplify this approach: each piece centers on a single glass brick, elevated like an artifact on legs crafted from wood or MDF. Drawn from a now-vanishing European glass industry, these limited bricks are both functional and archival. His work reflects a balance between utility and poetic presence, where design becomes a dialogue with what remains. All the glass bricks TOMÀ works with are limited. Among them are rare Made in Italy blocks designed in 1998 by Renzo Piano for the Hermès headquarters in Tokyo.
